What ViewportProof does
ViewportProof captures the website tab where you explicitly invoke the extension at several responsive widths, helps you review local rules-based signals, and creates a PDF, PNG screenshots, and an integrity manifest.
Information that remains local
The extension does not upload captured pixels, source URLs, page titles, DOM measurements, selectors, findings, recommendations, review notes, project or client names, preparer names, logos, generated PDFs, PNG files, or manifests. Unfinished capture data is kept temporarily in extension-owned browser storage and is deleted after download, explicit discard, or a 24-hour expiration.
Optional anonymous usage events
Anonymous usage measurement is off by default. If you opt in during onboarding, ViewportProof may send a random installation identifier, extension version, event time, viewport count, an allowlisted event name, and an allowlisted error code. It does not include a URL, title, screenshot, note, finding, name, logo, filename, page text, or arbitrary error message. You can use all product features without opting in. Raw usage events are deleted after 90 days.
Public-site measurement
This public website records page views, Chrome Web Store button clicks, sample-report opens, and sample-package downloads. Each event contains only the calendar date, an allowlisted site path and button location, and allowlisted campaign labels already present in the page URL. ViewportProof does not place analytics cookies, create a visitor identifier, save the referring page, or store an IP address with these events.
User-initiated feedback
The Send feedback action transmits only the category and message you choose to submit, plus a random installation identifier, timestamp, and extension version. It never automatically attaches the active URL, screenshot, report, notes, client names, findings, browser history, or diagnostic logs. Feedback is deleted after 180 days.
Permissions
- activeTab provides temporary access to the page only after you invoke ViewportProof.
- scripting performs one-off page measurement, capture preparation, and cleanup.
- storage keeps local preferences, unfinished jobs, and the anonymous installation identifier.
- The first-party site permission is used only for optional anonymous events and explicit feedback submission.
Limited Use
ViewportProof’s use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide or improve ViewportProof’s single purpose. It is not sold, used for advertising, used to build creditworthiness profiles, or transferred for unrelated purposes. No person reviews captured website content because that content is never transmitted to us.
Security and service providers
Extension code, fonts, templates, and report libraries are bundled with the extension. ViewportProof does not load remotely hosted executable code. Public-site and feedback infrastructure may process ordinary operational metadata such as IP addresses in short-lived provider security logs; ViewportProof does not store IP addresses in its product database.
Your choices
You can decline anonymous analytics, discard any unfinished capture, omit optional report fields, and choose exactly what to write in feedback. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension-owned local data through Chrome.
